ZAGREB, Dec 28 (Hina) - The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) has reported that the basic living costs of a four-member family in December have gone up by 2.68 percent in relation to the month before, with the average salary covering only 72 percent of living costs.

The minimum living costs in December amounted to 5,472 kuna, while the average salary in October totalled 3,952 kuna.

The rise in living costs was primarily the result of an increase in the price of fruit and vegetables and heating, SSSH representative Djurdjica Kahlina told reporters on Tuesday.

With the cost of rent added, the living costs of a four-member family total 6,956 kuna, with the average salary covering only 56.81 percent of the costs.

With the cost of transport added, the minimum living costs go up by 802 kuna.
