ZAGREB, Dec 24 (Hina) - A jumbo poster with the image of the runaway
general Ante Gotovina was removed from the fortress wall of the city of Zadar
overnight, and the police, after being informed by citizens of the poster's
disappearance, were on Friday morning investigating the circumstance of that
event.According to unofficial reports from the administration of that Adriatic
city, local authorities have not issued any order for the removal of that
poster (3x3 metres), which was put on Zadar 's fortress wall in the summer 2001
after the UN war crimes tribunal issued an indictment against this general.
The Zadar police said that they had received a report that the poster
had been removed by two men at about 03.00 am Friday who loaded it on a truck
and drove into an unknown direction.
Gotovina has been in hiding since the tribunal unsealed his indictment
in July 2001.
