The Serbian delegation, led by the Assistant Minister and head of the Public Security Department, Miroslav Milosevic, was interested in the structural organisation of the Croatian police, notably of the border police.
The process of reform of the Serbian police force, which is soon to take over border control from the military, is nearing completion.
Franic said that Croatia paid special attention to its neighbours as part of its effort to join the European Union and that it would be glad to share its experience on that path with its neighbours.
Franic pointed out that the two police forces should raise their cooperation to a higher level in order to be more successful in preventing specific forms of organised crimes, drug smuggling and human trafficking.
Milosevic described the meeting as a significant contribution to friendly and successful cooperation between the two countries, and said that the experience of the Croatian police would be used in the ongoing reform of the Serbian police.
