Noting that subpoenas were not issued easily, Presiding Judge Patrick Robinson requested that Milosevic submit a written motion indicating reasons why he wanted to call the witnesses and subjects he wanted to question them about and describing efforts made by the defence to ensure the appearance of the witnesses.
Milosevic, who refuses to file written motions to show that he does not recognise the court, insisted that he had verbally informed the tribunal's liaison officer of his request and that his request, made in the form of a transcript, was equivalent to a written motion.
Robinson dismissed this explanation, saying that the verbal request by the accused was rejected and that it would not be discussed again until a written request was submitted.
