The declaration contains priorities, goals and main actions to be undertaken over the next 10 years and represents a basis for the development of strategies for necessary joint actions.
Countries in the Danube region agreed to work towards strengthening cross-border cooperation to ensure the sustainable development and integral management of water resources in the Danube River basin.
The conference was attended by ministers and senior political representatives in charge of water management from 13 countries -- Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine -- and representatives of the European Commission.
The Croatian delegation was headed by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Petar Cobankovic, and State Secretary Bozo Galic.
