The event pooled some 150 participants, including Croatian Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Minister Petar Cobankovic and his associates.
The Danube region connects the North and the Black Seas and creates new prospects for transport, economic and tourism connections, joint urban planning, environmental protection, cultural connections and other forms of cooperation, ICPDR president Catherine Day told a news conference.
The participants in the two-day meeting will assess progress made in the protection and sustainable use of water and other ecological resources.
The participants are also expected to adopt a roof report as the foundation for the development of plans for managing river basins in the Danube River region within the framework directive on EU waters.
The ministers are expected to confirm the Danube declaration which advocates further strengthening of cross-border cooperation in sustainable water management within the Danube River basin.
