Mesic said he and Sanader agreed to meet tonight to discuss the case and the dismissal of POA chief Josko Podbevsek.
The president said the POA "didn't do its job properly because it harassed citizens," that "those who did that didn't answer for it," and that this was reason to fire Podbevsek.
Mesic said he sent the PM a letter demanding that Podbevsek be relieved of duties.
Commenting on claims that the POA interrogated reporter Helena Puljiz within the fight against organised crime, Mesic said the POA need not deal with organised crime because that was the task of the State Prosecutor's Office and the Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime.
"It's obvious that the people at POA don't know what their job is," Mesic said, adding this was a chance to change the agency's personnel.
