"I will not run because I want a strong Democratic Centre. My goal is local elections, and to see the government achieve results," Skare Ozbolt said.
"We have been entrusted with the responsible task of judicial reform and cooperation with the Hague tribunal, which is important for Croatia's admission to the EU, and it is our political obligation to complete that job successfully," she said.
She added that presidential elections and the post of president were not "the most important thing".
"What is most important is the government, and if we are an integral part of the government, we must be aware of the responsibility that we have assumed," she said.
Recalling her political career, Skare Ozbolt said that she had taken part in the establishment of the Croatian state since 1990 and successfully performed responsible tasks.
Most speakers at the session of the Main Committee tried to persuade the party leader to accept presidential candidacy, stating that her qualities made her suitable for the next president of Croatia.
