Djurdja Adlesic is a competent person who has demonstrated seriousness in politics, as a parliamentary deputy and as a mayor, Mesic said while leaving a symposium of Croatian economists in the northern Adriatic resort of Opatija on Wednesday.
Commenting on the fact that it took seven days for a warrant for the arrest of suspects in the Lora war crimes case to be forwarded from a Split court to a nearby police station, Mesic said it was obvious that some institutions were not functioning properly and that those responsible should be identified because this might have been done intentionally.
The president then made a tour of Opatija's classics-programme secondary school and the Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, where he was warmly greeted by students who chanted his name. He also visited the municipality of Matulji near the Croatian-Slovene border.
