The vice president of the SDP deputies' club, Milanka Opacic, told the press on Friday the request would be made because the Government and Zuzul himself had not reacted in connection with recent media allegations that the foreign minister was involved in a conflict of interest scandal.
Opacic said Prime Minister Ivo Sanader had not demonstrated a genuine intention to fire Zuzul. "Sanader is actually buying time and waiting for the scandal with the foreign minister to die down in public and be forgotten."
Opacic added Zuzul's conduct was unacceptable. "The Government mustn't stand behind someone who is in conflict of interest."
According to available information, the three deputies' clubs will accuse Zuzul of tax evasion, favouring the Bechtel construction company, and particularly conflict of interest in connection with the Imostroj company.
"We think Zuzul has not given the Croatian public the full truth about the last scandal," said Opacic.
She added the deadline by which Parliament was expected to give a no-confidence vote to Zuzul was early December.
Parliament is bound to take a position on the request within 30 days of its submission.
The Party of Rights (HSP) deputies' club will decide whether to joint the SDP-HSS-HNS request after a session on the "Zuzul scandal" on Tuesday, said club vice president Ruza Tomasic.
