ZAGREB, Oct 24 (Hina) - Luxembourg's Prime Minister Jean-Claude
Juncker has said arresting retired general Ante Gotovina, who is wanted by the
U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague, is not a condition for the start of
Croatia's European Union entry talks but that serious readiness to do so is,
Croatian Television (HTV) said in Sunday's primetime newscast.Asked if Gotovina's arrest was a condition for the start of Croatia's
entry talks, Juncker, who arrives in Croatia on Thursday, told the HTV
interviewer that Croatia must see to it that its efforts to arrest Gotovina
were serious.
He said it was up to Croatia to meet that obligation because it was an
issue that some EU members strongly insisted on.
Juncker voiced confidence the Croatian Government was ready to invest
huge efforts to extradite Gotovina to the Hague tribunal.
