HDZ members Branimir Glavas and Emil Tomljanovic insisted that the commission request the government to provide it with a report on whether state-owned shipyards had sought but were not granted state guarantees.
The commission's chairman, Anto Djapic of the Croatian Party of Rights, and Social Democrat Dragica Zgrebec requested that the government provide a list of all shipyards that were granted guarantees, regardless of whether they are privately owned, like Lenac, or state-owned.
The HDZ members said the opposition's request exceeded the commission's powers, and that the commission should only focus on the Rijeka shipyard, while opposition deputies said the issue should be tackled systematically, so that it could be established if the granting of guarantees to "Viktor Lenac" was an incident or really had a legal basis.
Glavas told the opposition deputies to initiate the establishment of a new commission if they wanted data on all issued guarantees, to which Djapic said that the commission could not operate on the principle of outvoting if it wanted to establish the truth in the case.
Since the two sides remained opposed, Djapic stated that the commission was blocked and adjourned the session, announcing internal consultations.
Asked about the possibility of being outvoted at the next session, since the HDZ has four representatives in the seven-member commission, Djapic said he would not tolerate manipulation and would resign if no compromise was reached.
