Thursdaywelcomed the fact that the defence minister had for the first timepresented a report on the state of the armed forces, but warned thatthe report covered only 2003 and did not give a true picture of thepresent situation. The Defence Minister told reporters in theCroatian parliament on Thursday afternoon that a report on thesituation in the armed forces which he presented earlier in the day toMPs covered only last year, and that this year many technicalimprovements had been achieved. The situation in the Croatian army is not bad atall, President Stjepan Mesic said on Thursday responding to the press,adding the army was reorganised by NATO standards and that he wassatisfied with the situation in the military.
