VIENNA, Sept 20 (Hina) - The 48th General Conference of the
International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA) started in Vienna on Monday,
pooling delegations from more than 130 countries, including Croatia's
delegation led by Assistant Economy Minister for Energy Zeljko Tomsic.In a message to the conference, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan stressed
the importance of using atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
The head of the Croatian delegation said that Croatia had an excellent
cooperation with the IAEA, both as a partner and as a country helping third
countries. Croatia and the IAEA are agreeing on activities aimed at preventing
the smuggling of nuclear and other radioactive material on Croatian territory,
Tomsic said.
