LJUBLJANA, Sept 3 (Hina) - Slovene Prime Minister Anton Rop said on
Friday that Slovenia would not send its troops to Iraq if his Liberal
Democratic Party won the election scheduled for October 3.Responding to the statement by opposition leader Janez Jansa that last
year he promised to send 60-70 Slovene soldiers to join the Danish contingent
in Iraq, Rop said that the statement was motivated by the forthcoming
election.
"Slovenia did not participate in the anti-Iraqi coalition, and if we win
voters' trust we will not send Slovene troops to Iraq," Rop said.
