BELGRADE, Aug 27 (Hina) - Most electronic media in Belgrade on Friday
carried news agency reports of the decision by the Croatian government to
remove the monuments to high-ranking Ustasha officials Mile Budak in Sveti Rok
and Jure Francetic in Slunj.The Serbian national television network RTS carried a report by its
Zagreb correspondent who quoted Croatian President Stjepan Mesic as saying that
the monuments had to be removed.
RTS also carried a report by the Fonet news agency, which quoted Prime
Minister Ivo Sanader as saying that his government would not allow anyone to
turn it back to the past and that Croatia would direct all its capabilities
towards the future.
The Fonet report and the statement by Mesic were also carried by B92
radio and television.
