Croat veterans boo new federal gov't whose 1st meeting starts after hoax bomb alert

Autor: mses
MOSTAR, April 7 (Hina) - About a hundred protesters, mainly Croat Defence Council war veterans, on Thursday rallied outside the building housing the institutions of the Bosnian Federation in Mostar, booing the recently elected president of that Bosnian entity, Zivko Budimir, and newly appointed ministers as they were entering the building.

Shortly before the beginning of the first session of the new government in the Croat-Muslim entity, the police received a phone call about a bomb in the building. The police searched the building and established that it was a hoax bomb alert. After that the session of the Bosnian federal government resumed.

Protesters greeted the new federal president and ministers, who fill in the positions designated for Croat representatives, with shouts of "traitors" and "Judases".

The offenses were directed at Jerko Ivankovic Lijanovic, of the Prosperity Through Work party, Vjekoslav Camber and Ante Krajina of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP BiH) and the entity's president Budimir, also of the HSP.

The new government, set up by a bloc led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP), does not include representatives of the largest Bosnian Croat parties -- HDZ BiH and HDZ 1990 -- who accuse the bloc of ignoring the will of the Croat electorate. The two HDZ parties won a vast majority of votes among the Croat electorate.
