Stroehm, born in 1930 in Tallin, Estonia, went to college in
Tuebingen, Germany, where he also earned a doctoral degree.
He was an editor of the Deutsche Welle radio station and the south and
eastern Europe correspondent of the Die Welt.
He arrived in Zagreb at the start of the Homeland Defence War and
together with his family lived in the Croatian capital for almost a
decade.
Since 1992 he was a columnist of the Vecernji List daily and also
wrote for other newspapers. For some time he was a political
commentator on Croatian Television.
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman decorated Carl Gustaf Stroehm with
the Croatian Morning Star in 1995 for his journalistic work and
contribution to the promotion of Croatia in the world.
