Granic was taken to hospital in the afternoon around the same time as
a Zagreb County Court investigating judge issued an order that he be
released from remand prison.
He told reporters he was feeling better and that he had probably
become sick because of all that had happened over the past few days,
which he said hurt him badly.
Granic said the whole affair was very damaging to him as a businessman
and that he hoped his business partners would realise that it was a
set-up.
Granic was met outside the prison hospital by members of his family
and his defence lawyers.
Granic and Darinko Bago, his brother-in-law and the chief executive
officer of Koncar Electrical Industries Inc., have been in custody
since last Friday on suspicion of involvement in a corruption
scandal.
Earlier on Monday, the investigating judge rejected a request by the
Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) to
order an investigation and remand the two in custody for a month.
