ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - The Democratic Centre (DC) is surprised at the assessment of experts for public administration that after the change of government, the number of state officials has increased by 30 percent. The party, however,
believes that a rise in their number is not necessarily negative, if new officials may contribute to more efficient, open and modern public administration at the service of citizens.

Commenting on the publication of declarations of assets of members of
parliament, DC Vice President Josko Moric told a news conference on
Thursday that his party supported the revelation of the declarations
of assets of MPs and other officials but it regards the existing model
of collecting pertinent data and their publication as pointless.
Moric added that the DC would insist on checking whether the data were
correct and on making it clear whether there was any difference in the
value of assets at the start of term of office and at its end.
The DC supports the decision of the Constitutional Court on work on
Sundays, as citizens who want to work on Sundays and earn more money
should be able to do so, but it should also make it possible for those
who want to be off duty on Sunday to have Sundays as their days of
rest.
