Five years after NATO's intervention the situation in Kosovo is still
very fragile, MacShane said on Wednesday after talks with
Serbia-Montenegro's Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic.
I told Kosovo leaders that we in Great Britain do not use the term
independence because in Europe we are now all mutually dependent,
MacShane said and stressed that the human rights of all peoples in
Kosovo must be respected.
During talks with head of state Svetozar Marovic the British minister
said that solving problems in Kosovo demanded responsible engagement
by Pristina, Belgrade and the international community, Marovic's
office said in a statement.
MacShane also met Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, his
deputy Miroljub Labus, and the president of the Democratic Party,
Boris Tadic. The Briton visited the recently devastated Bajrakli
Mosque and spoke with Belgrade's Mufti Hamdija Jusufspahic.
