The congress is attended by representatives of relevant ministries
from Croatia and neighbouring countries, officials of the European
Commission, the European Platform for Transport Sciences, and
scientific associations from some 20 countries.
The president of the Croatian Scientific Transport Society, Branko
Rotim, said the congress would focus on transport in the European
Union and its neighbourhood following enlargement and traffic links
between the north and south of Europe.
The head of the EU's department for trans-European traffic networks
and technological development at the Directorate-General for Energy
and Transport, Edgar Thielmann, spoke about traffic networks in the
expanded Europe and new priorities in transport projects, which are
expected to cost some 224 billion euros.
