RIJEKA RIJEKA, April 22 (Hina) - A cooperation agreement was signed between the Rijeka Port Authority and the Chinese port city of Yingkou on Thursday during a visit by a delegation from the Chinese province of Liaoning to the
northern Croatian Adriatic city.

the Rijeka Port Authority and the Chinese port city of Yingkou on
Thursday during a visit by a delegation from the Chinese province of
Liaoning to the northern Croatian Adriatic city.#L#
Rijeka Port Authority Director Bojan Hlaca explained to the Chinese
guests the advantages of the port of Rijeka and the transport route
leading from Rijeka to Central Europe.
Situated in Liaoning province, Yingkou is one of China's largest
seaports with a projected throughput of 55 million tons of goods this
year.
The Chinese showed particular interest in wood imports from Croatia
and were presented with the capabilities of the Croatian wood
industry.
The delegation of Liaoning and Yiangkou were received by Mayor Vojko
Obersnel and County Prefect Zlatko Komadina. The County of Primorje
and Gorski Kotar signed a cooperation agreement with Liaoning last
year.
The Chinese delegation, headed by the Secretary General of the
Communist Party in Liaoning, Xu De, the Deputy Mayor of Yingkou, Hao
Qinghui, and the head of the Yingkou Port Authority, Gao Bao Yu, was
also due to visit the Industrial Estate at Kukuljanovo and meet
officials from the "Croatian Forests" company in Delnice.
Liaoning province is situated in northeastern China on the border with
North Korea and has a population of 42 million.
