committing war crimes against civilians in the eastern Croatian
village of Lovas in 1991, resumed before the County Court in Vukovar

Only the 17th defendant, Ilija Vorkapic, was present at the hearing,
while all the others were on the run and were being tried in absence.
The accused took part in an attack on Lovas on 10 October 1991 in
which 30 residents were killed and many houses were destroyed or
burnt.
The indictment says that a total of 69 people were killed during the
attack and Serb occupation of the village, of whom 24 died in a mine
field, while at least 33 people were seriously wounded.
After hearing a witness, the judge adjourned the trial until 19 May
when new witness will be heard.
