The aim of the project, which UNIDO will finance with US140,000, is
to assist in developing a competitive and export-oriented business
sector, primarily small and medium-sized enterprises, and help them
attain EU product, environmental, trade, technological and other
standards, Magarinos said.
The project will be carried out in cooperation with business
associations and government institutions responsible for business
development. Croatia is expected to prepare a strategy for the
development of the social responsibility of business enterprises and a
business agenda for the social responsibility of the private sector.
Vukelic announced two more UNIDO projects in Croatia -- one promoting
production of biodiesel and the other concerning communal solid waste
management on the Adriatic coast.
Also discussed at today's meeting was a project to promote investment
in Croatia through a network of more than 50 UNIDO offices worldwide.
