VARAZDIN, April 7 (Hina) - While appointing ambassadors and consuls
Croatia will first seek consent of the host country and then a
competent parliamentary committee would voice its opinion on the
issue, the government decided at its closed session held in Varazdin
on Wednesday.#L#
The decision is the result of amendments to a decision on the
procedure of setting up Croatian embassies and consulates abroad and a
procedure of appointing and replacing Croatian ambassadors and
consuls.
So far, the parliamentary foreign affairs committee has discussed the
nominations of future ambassadors and consuls first and only then
Croatia asked for an opinion of the host country.
The procedure of appointing and dismissing heads of diplomatic
missions starts with a proposal moved by the Foreign Ministry.
