Varazdin on Wednesday.#L#
The government was informed of the latest issue of Euro-bonds
amounting to 500 million euros.
In that context, Finance Minister Ivan Suker said he did not agree
with media reports that parliament should open a debate on Croatia's
external debt.
Last month we held talks with officials of the National Bank (HNB) and
leading commercial banks in order to find out the most favourable
strategies for new loans in this year, payment of old debts and
coverage of this year's deficit, Suker said, reiterating that the
incumbent government was in favour of taking more loans on the
domestic market.
Suker said the government would most probably abandon plans to issue
samurai bonds by the end of this year.
Sanader and Suker dismissed the media speculation on the insolvency of
the state.
Suker added that all financial obligations were being covered by
budgetary means and at the moment there were debts of 16 million kuna
to be paid.
He went on to say that the revenues collected in the first three
months this year were by 5.46 percent higher than in the same period
last year.
