Police said that one person was killed and another wounded, while the
Kosovo Protection Corps said in a statement that its officer, Shaqir
Krasniqi, was killed after his car was ambushed.
Kosovo Protection Force spokesman Colonel Shemso Sylo said that
Krasniqi, 28, had worked at the Corps Information Department and that
during the war he had been a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
The Kosovo Protection Corps was established after the demilitarisation
of the province and the transformation of the Kosovo Liberation Army
into a civilian organisation. It is viewed by the majority ethnic
Albanian population as the nucleus of future armed forces of Kosovo.
