The trial chamber has unanimously decided to continue the trial with a
new presiding judge, Landale said at a weekly press briefing.
Milosevic denied consent for the appointment of a new judge and the
trial chamber decided in the interest of justice and in line with the
tribunal's rules to continue the trial with a substitute judge.
The new judge, who will be appointed by ICTY president Theodor Meron,
should by June 8, when the trial is to due to resume, examine more
than 30,000 pages of the trial record and tens of thousands of
documents, transcripts and other evidence and explicitly confirm that
he is familiar with the case.
