SISAK, March 28 (Hina) - The Social Democratic Party (SDP) branch in
Sisak County nominated Ivica Racan for the post of party president at
a convention in Sisak on Sunday. Addressing the meeting, SDP
Presidency member Davorko Vidovic said that reports about state
illiquidity "have become dramatic". #L#
Vidovic said he had been contacted by the managers of some companies
which were forced by state illiquidity to seek loans and sell property
to keep their business.
He recalled that the former coalition government, headed by the SDP,
had in 2000 been faced with a state debt of 9.5 billion kuna and
managed to clear it, while the incumbent government had caused "a
critical level of illiquidity" in only four months.
"If someone has the right to talk about inherited debts, it's the
former government and not the incumbent one, which took over a solvent
state from us," Vidovic said.
