At a time of intensified violence, terrorism and threats to peace and
stability, particularly in Europe, every new case of violence and
extremism gives cause for alarm and calls for urgent and decisive
action of the international community, the ministry said in a
statement, thus joining EU High Representative for the Common Foreign
and Security Policy Javier Solana and the chairman of the Council of
Ministers, Brian Cowen, who called for peace and the continuation of
the political dialogue.
Croatia believes that the international community must invest urgent
efforts to establish peace and order, create conditions for a
political solution to the crisis and timely remove possible negative
consequences of the situation in Kosovo.
The Republic of Croatia believes that an accelerated consolidation and
democratic stabilisation of relations in Serbia and Montenegro, the
continuation of European reforms in Macedonia, and the preservation of
stability and reforms in Bosnia also represent a wider framework for
peace in this part of Europe, the statement said.
Croatia firmly believes that answers and solutions to those issues
need to be sought in a peaceful manner and is ready, as part of the
international community, to fully support the stabilisation of and the
establishment of a lasting peace in this part of Europe, the statement
said.
