This opposition party also insists on the introduction of a strict
system of control at borders so as to prevent the import of GMO seed
in Croatia.
According to a press release, the HSS party would like to see that
measures be taken to ban the import of GMO seed in the region and that
the Alpe-Adria region be declared GMO-free.
The party said the support to this initiative had been so far given by
Italy, Slovenia, Austria and Vojvodina (the northern Serbian
province), and that some Croatian counties had began the process of
proclaiming themselves GMO-free areas.
