Both sides expressed satisfaction with good bilateral relations and
agreed that it was necessary to improve economic cooperation between
the two countries.
Michel said that his country regarded Croatia as a factor of stability
in the region and promised Croatia further support along its path to
the European Union.
Mesic said that one of Croatia's interests was to attract investments
in its tourist infrastructure. He thanked the Belgian government for
the investments it had made in the reconstruction of Vukovar and the
railway bridge between Erdut and Bogojevo.
Earlier in the day, Michel met Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Foreign
Minister Miomir Zuzul. After the talks with Mesic, the Belgian
minister left for Vukovar.
