marked its 50th anniversary on Monday.#L#
The ceremony was attended by some 600 Austrian and Croatian guests
including Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, under whose auspices the
event was held, Prime Minister Ivo Sander, Parliament President
Vladimir Seks and other officials.
The office, in cooperation with its partners in Croatia, has
significantly contributed to the strengthening of Croatia-Austria
economic relations.
With EUR2.1 billion of direct investments in Croatia between 1993 and
2003, Austria is the biggest investor in Croatia's economy (25 % of
total investments).
The Croatia-Austria trade also recorded high annual increase rates.
According to the central Bureau of Statistics, in 2003 Croatia
exported US479.5 million in goods to Austria which is 31.1 percent
more than the year before. In the same period Croatia's imports from
Austria totalled US940 million or 32.4 percent more.
