During the ceremony, the Pope spoke about the situation in the
country, which he visited in 1997 and 2003.
The Holy See did everything to prevent the conflict which broke out in
the former Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, the Pope said, adding that
many obstacles and challenges needed to be faced in the economic,
social and political fields, primarily the problem of refugee return.
The Pope said that Bosnia-Herzegovina had to follow the path of peace
and justice and supported its aspirations to join European integration
processes.
