"Neither the government nor its ministries intend to impose
restrictions on the President's Office," Sanader said, stressing the
importance of the work of the president of the republic.
Sanader and President Stjepan Mesic held talks today, telling
reporters afterwards they would intensify the coordination of their
activities in the future, notably in foreign policy, so that Croatia
could win European Union candidate status within the next six months.
Sanader and Mesic said that the Hebrang case was over, which erupted
after Deputy PM Andrija Hebrang said Mesic had devalued his post.
"That problem doesn't concern me any more. For me the case is over,"
Mesic said.
