ZAGREB, Jan 26(Hina) - Incumbent and former government officials will
discuss the transfer of authority, particularly financial commitments,
once again on Thursday, current Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and his
predecessor Ivica Racan said after considering the matter on Monday.#L#
The Thursday meeting will address liabilities from the period between
election day and the establishment of the new government. Former
Deputy PM Slavko Linic and former finance and public works ministers
Mato Crkvenac and Radimir Cacic will also attend.
One of the key issues under consideration will be the overstepping of
the national budget for last year in the amount of 1.6 billion kuna
(EUR207.8 million) for highway construction, Sanader said.
Former PM Racan said the budget was exceeded because highway
construction took less time than planned. "We have to see how to
resolve this problem without making too political an issue out of
it."
"Nobody has anything against accelerated construction, but there is an
order that has to be honoured," said Sanader, adding that what was
relevant was not which party or government was right but to establish
facts and if something was done wrongly, to see why.
