SUBOTICA, Jan 15 (Hina) - The leader of the Democratic Alliance of
Vojvodina Croats (DSHV), Petar Kuntic, has called on local Croats not
to respond to acts of provocation to which they were exposed after the
28 December parliamentary elections in Serbia.#L#
Kuntic on Thursday advised ethnic Croats to report any future incident
to the police "whom they can still trust", he said.
The DSHV leader again called on the incumbent authorities in Serbia to
immediately react and arrest perpetrators of incidents in which
national and religious symbols of ethnic Croats were vandalised.
Almost all major political parties in Serbia have condemned incidents
which happened in the region of Subotica (northern Serbia) immediately
after the Serb Radical Party won the polls. Only the Radical Party and
the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) led by Vojislav Kostunica, have
not yet expressed their position on the issue.
