The meeting reaffirmed very good and friendly relations between the two countries, with both sides expressing hope for their further development. Also discussed were possibilities for promoting interparliamentary cooperation.
Grabar-Kitarovic spoke of the progress of talks on Croatia's membership in the European Union, underlining the role of the Croatian Parliament in adjusting Croatian legislation to the European acquis communautaire.
She stressed that all Croatian parliamentary parties had reached consensus on Croatia's accession to the European Union.
On the subject of cooperation among Southeast European countries, the two officials agreed that it was necessary to continue with present forms of cooperation and to establish new ones in order to enhance regional security and achieve economic progress.
At the University of St Climent of Ohrid, Grabar-Kitarovic delivered a talk on European enlargement, in which she highlighted European integration processes in Croatia and EU membership as their main objective.
