ISPA, along with PHARE and SEPARD, is one of the three EU instruments which are aimed at preparing EU candidate countries for their future participation in structural and cohesion funds. It supports infrastructure projects in the fields of environment and transport. A total of EUR60 million has been allocated to Croatia for the priod 2005-2006.
The Commission has decided to finance the first two projects the environment and transport field in Croatia with almost EUR22.5 million and EUR28.789 million. The total value of these first two projects in Croatia is EUR127.4 million, of which the total ISPA contribution amounts to EUR51.3 million. The rest of the funds will come from domestic sources.
The implementation of the projects will take place over the period 2005-2010.
