A larger number of police officers and Kosovo Force (KFOR) members are in the streets of Kosovo as of today. The measure has been taken at the request of UN Civil Administrator Soren Jessen-Petersen to prevent possible incidents during the process of negotiation on Kosovo's status, the spokesman for the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), Neeraj Singh, said at a news conference.
The additional security measures are aimed at preventing isolated groups from using violence, protecting Kosovo residents and ensuring an atmosphere of peace and stability during the talks.
