SARAJEVO, Dec 1 (Hina) - The State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina on
Thursday decided to set a one-month detention for three former senior officials
of the Serb Democratic Party (SDS), Mirko Sarovic, Milovan Bjelica and Milorad
Govedarica, who were arrested earlier this week following an order issued by
the Bosnian State Prosecutor's Office. Detention was requested by
the international prosecutor from the Department for Combating Organised Crime
and Corruption, Jonathan Rattel, who interrogated the three men on
Wednesday.
Sarovic, Bejlica and Govedarica are suspected of organising an illegal
financing of the SDS by taking loans for fictitious companies.
The loans were taken from Privredna Banka Istocno Sarajevo, at whose
helm was the war-time justice minister in the Bosnian Serb Government, Momcilo
Mandic.
Mandic, arrested in Montenegro and extradited to the Bosnian
authorities, has been in custody since August.
Prosecutor Rattel said the indictment in the case would be issued by 14
December.
