"Solana offered his help in solving outstanding issues between Slovenia and Croatia. Slovenia wants, together with Croatia, to use the period of Croatia's accession talks with the EU to solve some of the problems," Rupel said.
The Slovene official said that he had explained to Solana his country's position on some of the outstanding issues, including those regarding the border, bank savings of Croatian citizens in the Ljubljanska Banka, border crossings and fisheries.
Slovenia is interested in solving some of those problems as Croatia and the EU close individual negotiating chapters in the process of adjustment to EU standards and at meetings of the EU Council of Ministers in which Slovenia already participates as a member country, Rupel said.
