Djapic said that his trip to Israel took place at the time when he was supposed to visit Ariel and establish friendly cooperation. Several days before the trip, the Ariel city mayor cancelled the official visit following accusations by the head of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Ephram Zuroff, that Djapic was a known extreme anti-Semite.
Also scheduled for the same time was the visit to Lod, Djapic told today's news conference and added that the population of Lod, like that of Osijek, was 100,000, and that the biggest Israeli airport was in that city.
Cooperation will be discussed in detail at the celebration of Osijek City Day on December 2, when the Lod mayor is expected to visit this eastern Croatian town, Djapic said.
