SARAJEVO, Nov 14 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Vojkan Djurkovic was arrested inBjeljina on Monday on suspicion of having committed war crimes duringthe 1990s war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, local media reported citingsources from the Bosnian Serb
entity's interior ministry.
SARAJEVO, Nov 14 (Hina) - Bosnian Serb Vojkan Djurkovic was
arrested in Bjeljina on Monday on suspicion of having committed war crimes
during the 1990s war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, local media reported citing sources
from the Bosnian Serb entity's interior ministry. Police arrested
Djurkovic following a warrant issued by the Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina, a
competent body for processing war crimes cases.
Djurkovic is suspected of having participated in the persecution of the
non-Serb population and looting in the wider Bjeljina region.
According to available information more, than 30,000 people, mostly
Muslims, had been expelled from that part of Bosnia at the beginning of the
war.
