Speaking to reporters after meeting Damir Spancic, state secretary of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Tourism, Transport and Development, Djapic said that the housing care programme would mainly be financed by the government and that the City would help out within the bounds of its abilities and commitments.
Spancic said that the Ministry had received over 600 housing applications from people who used to have tenancy rights in Osijek, and that 20 per cent of them were unfounded. He added that the exact situation would be known in February.
The construction of houses is planned to start next year and should be finished within three years.
