There is no reason for citizens not to eat poultry, Brstilo said after he informed the Ivo Sanader cabinet of measures and activities which relevant authorities were taking to prevent the outbreak of bird flu in Croatia.
Citing the findings of the poultry breeding department of the Croatian Veterinary Institute, Brstilo said that all samples tested for bird flu showed negative results.
The monitoring of wild birds is being carried out at 17 locations throughout Croatia, including all major bird reserves and river basins.
Although it was previously announced that it would end on 15 December, the monitoring will continue after that date.
