The government made the decision at a session in the county capital, Cakovec, supporting a series of important projects for the town and the county.
In order to ensure that construction of a flood embankment began as soon as possible, the government gave its consent for the national water management company to enter into a 1.2 million kuna direct contract, without a public tender, for the construction of an embankment along the Mura river.
The overall cost of the embankment, which will be slightly more than one kilometre long, is estimated at 10 million kuna.
Also, the government relieved Lovro Pejkovic of his duties as assistant minister of transport and development. Pejkovic had previously served as head of the government's Office for Displaced Persons and Refugees.
