A member of the Kosovo police, Sasa Durlevic, was wounded late last night in an armed attack on a police vehicle travelling between the villages of Firaje and Drajkovac, on the Urosevac-Strpce road.
Durlevic was wounded in his arm, leg and back and was transported, with the help of the Ukrainian members of the Kosovo Force, to the US military base Bondsteel near Urosevac. The other two police officers on patrol, both Serbs, were not wounded in the attack.
Vittrup said that there was no connection between last night's attack and the destruction of a monument to members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), which occurred on Thursday night.
In the night between Thursday and Friday, a monument to KLA members near the village of Brod, also in Strpce municipality, was destroyed, after which the residents of Brod blocked traffic on the Urosevac-Strpce road.
Vittrup visited the scene and condemned the destruction of the monument, announcing more police patrols on the Urosevac-Strpce road.
