SARAJEVO, Sept 9 (Hina) - British Defence Secretary John Reid hasexpressed confidence that four more countries, including Croatia, willjoin the European Union and that their admission will ensure lastingstability and peace in the southeast of the continent.
SARAJEVO, Sept 9 (Hina) - British Defence Secretary John Reid has expressed confidence that four more countries, including Croatia, will join the European Union and that their admission will ensure lasting stability and peace in the southeast of the continent.

I believe that we will live to see Serbia-Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey enter the European Union so that Europe and its institutions will guarantee stability and protection of the rights of all nations in the Balkans, Reid said at a meeting with members of the Bosnian Presidency in Sarajevo on Friday.

According to a statement from the Bosnian Presidency, Reid pledged full support from his country for the modernisation of the Bosnian defence system, which is being adjusted to NATO standards.

The British official and Bosnian leaders agreed that it was necessary to ensure full cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal in order to secure a lasting peace in this part of Europe.
